«And he was Shane.»
I can hardly find the words to describe how beautiful this novel is.
It is a masterfully integrated story, a remarkable example of unity in a work of art.

Andrew Bernstein was the one who motivated me to read this amazing work of literature. He says that Shane is about the virtue of hero/worshipping; and I agree fully with that. By that fact, Shane is now one of my favorite novels.
Check out the 8 minutes discussion Andrew delivers on Shane in a talk on heroes of literature:
Listen, Bob. A gun is just a tool. No better and no worse than any other tool, a shovel—or an axe or a saddle or a stove or anything. Think of it always that way. A gun is as good—and as bad—as the man who carries it. Remember that.
